Bio-Nanotechnology

Bio-Nanotechnology can broadly distinguished into three parts:

1. Medical diagnosis and Drug delivery : to develop technologies to detect various tumors in the human body, and deliver the drugs efficiently to the tumors. Nanomaterials are playing an important role in detecting the tumors as well as delivering the drugs for example several light emitting nanomaterials have been injected into the body which enhances the contrast.....

2. Medical imaging : Several technologies have been developed in the past couple of decades for medical imaging, of which few have been X-ray imaging, fluorescence imaging, CCD cameras, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) , positron emission tomography (PET), CT scan, and ultrasound imaging.

3. Biomimetics : There are several inspiring biological structures in this world. One part of bio-nanotechnology has been to mimic several of those inspiring materials.

Soft-Lithography:

PolyDimethylsiloxane (PDMS) is a Si based organic polymer that has found wide applications in MEMS and microfluidic device fabrication, soft lithography, contact lens manufacturing and device encapsulation

The procedure for using PDMS to make moulds has been clearly described in the following web pages:
